New for 2025: DCI is proud to introduce the Building Better, Together Award, celebrating collaboration across Nova Scotia’s design and construction industry. You can download an information brochure about the new award at the link below. 

Every year, we honour individuals and organizations who have made a significant difference in the design and construction industry here in Nova Scotia at our annual Awards Gala. We provide the opportunity for the awards recipients to speak on stage and to receive their award, celebrating with all those in attendance. If you would like to make a nomination, please fill out the form at the bottom of the webpage.

 

Our awards include:

  • Distinguished Member Award: This award is given to DCI members who have demonstrated exemplary service to the industry and espouse the Vision, Mission and Values of DCI.

  • Honorary Member Award:  The title of Honorary Member is bestowed upon non-DCI members who are prominent supporters of the design and construction industry.

  • Vibrancy Award:  The Vibrancy Award is bestowed upon an individual or organization that gives back to our industry and community in a manner that espouses the four Values of DCI – Respect, Integrity, Innovation and Commitment. 
     

    • 2025 - Gerry Lalonde & The Membertou First Nation

    • 2024 - Passive Design Solutions

    • 2022 - Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission

    • 2021- Shannon Miedema

    • 2019 - Danny Chedrawe
       

  • Building Better, Together Award: This award recognizes a project where at least two partners came together - across disciplines, organizations, or sectors - and worked with care, trust, and shared responsibility to deliver meaningful impact. We are looking for stories that show how strong relationships, thoughtful leadership, and collaboration beyond construction led to better outcomes for projects and communities.     • New this year!
       

  • Cruddy Trowel Award​:  The Cruddy Trowel Award is for a notable achievement on a particular project or contribution to DCI. Unlike the other awards, the long-standing tradition is that the previous year's recipient chooses the new recipient, passing the award from member to member.  Each year the recipient will add an object to the award, representing their personal connection to the industry.

2026 DCI Awards Nominations

Each year, DCI presents a slate of awards during our annual gala. These awards acknowledge the contributions and accomplishments within the design and construction industry across all of Nova Scotia. These awards offer a unique opportunity to draw from all roles and professions within the broad industry. We are seeking public nominations for this year's awards. Note that you do not need to be a registered member of DCI to make a nomination.

Award descriptions are as follows:


Vibrancy Award:  The Vibrancy Award is bestowed upon an individual or organization that gives back to our industry and community in a manner that espouses the four Values of DCI – Respect, Integrity, Innovation and Commitment. 


Distinguished Member Award: This award is given to DCI members who have demonstrated exemplary service to the industry and espouse the Vision, Mission and Values of DCI.


Honorary Member Award:  The title of Honorary Member is bestowed upon non-DCI members who are prominent supporters of the design and construction industry.


Building Better, Together Award: This award recognizes a Nova Scotia project where at least two partners came together - across disciplines, organizations, or sectors - and worked with care, trust, and shared responsibility to deliver meaningful impact. The project may be at any phase of design or construction.
